Residence MD

Residence MD is a contemporary two-storey home that explores the interplay between openness and enclosure through clean forms, contrasting materials, and layered privacy. Located in a suburban neighborhood of Nicosia, the house is designed to engage the street with confidence while maintaining a strong sense of internal retreat. The composition is defined by a linear white volume hovering above a robust stone base. Vertical mesh screens, full-height glazing, and recessed balconies create varying degrees of transparency, enabling light to enter while filtering views. The use of natural stone grounds the building in its local context, offering texture and warmth against the smooth rendered surfaces. The layout is organized to prioritize light-filled, open-plan living areas on the ground floor with direct access to private gardens, while bedrooms on the upper level enjoy framed views and deep overhangs for shading. Native planting and perimeter walls add a soft buffer to the street, blending architecture and landscape seamlessly. Residence MD balances precision and comfort—combining timeless materiality with a spatial strategy that protects, embraces, and connects.
