As a design practice, we are constantly interested in making: how materials behave, how form emerges through process, and how ideas shift when they move from drawing into something physical.

For a recent team activity, ADP spent an evening at KAGE Creative Home exploring clay as a different kind of design medium. Working by hand and away from the usual tools of architectural production, the team created a range of objects, from plates, coffee cups and mugs to more sculptural and experimental pieces.

The workshop offered a change of scale and pace. Instead of buildings, details and drawings, the focus was on touch, material, proportion and the small decisions that gradually shape an object. The pieces were then painted over a glass of wine, bringing a more informal and social dimension to the process.

It was a simple exercise in making, but also a useful reminder that creativity is not confined to any one discipline or format. Sometimes working with a different material is enough to look at form, craft and design with fresh eyes.
